Our journey

Named after a good dog.
Built for hard work.

Lead Dog started with a homeowner who couldn't get a contractor to call him back. It's an independent software company in Frisco, Texas — named partly for the dog who sat in the office while it was built.

How it started

It started with a phone that never rang back.

Chapter 01

Nobody answered the phone.

It began with a house that needed work. Lawn care. Paint. New flooring. Simple jobs, money ready, a homeowner sitting there wanting to hand it over.

Call after call went unanswered. The ones that promised a callback took days — and plenty never came at all. Not because those contractors were bad at their trade. They were out doing the work, hands full, phone buzzing in a truck three streets away.

Good contractors were losing jobs they never even knew they'd been offered.
Chapter 02

Then paying them became its own job.

The ones who did show up did good work. What came next was the mess. A quote scrawled on a notepad. An invoice that arrived weeks later, or never. A text asking for a check. Another asking whether the check had been sent.

Every job turned into a small juggling act — for the homeowner and, clearly, for the contractor too. Nobody was doing anything wrong. There just wasn't a system holding any of it together.

Chapter 03

There had to be a better way.

The problem was never effort. It was that the calls, the schedule, the estimate and the invoice all lived in different places — a notepad, a phone, a spreadsheet, somebody's memory — and nothing carried from one to the next.

So we built the thing that should have already existed: one app that catches the call, books the job, sends the estimate, routes the crew and collects the payment. It even answers the phone when you can't, because that's exactly where this started.

Answer the call. Book the job. Get paid. All in one place.

Why "Lead Dog".

It's a play on words, and both halves are the point. The lead dog is the one out front — where every contractor is trying to get. And a lead is the thing you turn into a paying project, which is what this software does all day long.

Then there's Bruno. A Rottweiler who spent his years stretched out on the office floor while all of this was being built, and made it to thirteen and a half. The name was already right. He just settled the argument.

Chapter 05

Still building.

Lead Dog now runs lawn care crews, HVAC shops, plumbers, cleaners and contractors across the country. Every one of them tells us something we didn't know, and most of it ends up in the product.

The plan is simple. Stay independent, keep the price fair, answer the phone in Frisco, and make sure no contractor on Lead Dog loses a job just because they were busy doing one.

Nobody should lose work because their hands were full.
